Sustainable Achievement of Business Expansion and Quality (SABEQ)
This program will build on the successes of AMIR II while adopting new approaches to stimulate continued economic growth and reform in Jordan. The project will work with both the public and private sectors to achieve two principle goals: 1) increasing the number of jobs available to Jordanians and 2) enhancing the competitiveness of Jordanian firms (ranging from micro through small, medium and large). It will have four components: strengthen capital markets; improve business enabling environment; expand trade and investment; and improve private sector competitiveness. Designed to be a flexible instrument, it will be able to respond to evolving needs in Jordan.

World Bank Technical Assistance Trust Fund - Privatization Program
Assistance to the Executive Privatization Commission to help the Government of Jordan privatize state-owned enterprises and address and related economic restructuring issues. More than 64 transactions have been completed and proceeds exceed $1.2 billion to date.

Aqaba Community and Economic Development Program (ACED)
This Program will provide technical assistance to enhance the skills of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and Aqaba citizens to increase their abilities to access benefits from existing and planned major investments in Aqaba. This assistance includes increasing citizen participation in decision making and improving access to an enhanced social infrastructure. Further, certain assistance will be provided to improve the capacity of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) and the Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC) to deliver services to their constituencies. The three Program components are designed to strengthen government institutions, strengthen the private business sector, and enhance local community development. Four cross-cutting support elements of training, gender integration, communication and outreach, and procurement initiatives will be key aspects of this program. In addition, a small grants program will provide $2.5 million to support various activities within the components.

Jordan Tourism Project (SIYAHA)
Technical assistance, training and other services to help Jordan implement its National Tourism Strategy designed to double tourism receipts by 2010. It will promote Jordan’s competitiveness as an international tourism destination by establishing a strong institutional and regulatory framework that promotes private-sector investment, stimulates tourism growth and preserves national tourism assets and the environment. The program assists private investors to develop new and comprehensive products and services across the tourism value chain. It is increasing awareness among Jordanians about the importance of the tourism sector, and aims to position the industry as the employer of choice.

Jordan Fiscal Reform Project
Technical assistance and training to assist GOJ with its fiscal policy reforms. This will focus on supporting the Ministry of Finance to formulate better tax policy, streamline and modernize tax administration, promote voluntary compliance, and reform the budget process to make it more transparent and more closely aligned with GOJ priorities.

Business & Export Development for Jordanian Enterprise (Tatweer)
Provide client support services and programs to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in seven industry sectors, and serves a broad client base through four industry associations. TATWEER also supports two innovative programs: the Maharat Internship Program which recruits and trains promising recent university graduates for internships or future employment with SMEs, and the Faculty-to-Factory Program which promotes cooperation between academia and industry.

Economic Opportunities for Jordanian Youth (INJAZ)
Funding for creating partnerships between private sector and educators throughout Jordan to help empower youth, introduce them to entrepreneurship, and provide them with new employment options beyond the traditional public sector. The program is based on the “Junior Achievement Worldwide” model and is targeted at Jordanian youth between the ages of 15 to 24. INJAZ offers employment skills needed in a modern economy through over 1,200 volunteers from 100 private sector organizations.

American Center Of Oriental Research Endowment
Funding to continue work discovering and preserving key archeological sites in Jordan, and thus promote Jordan’s tourism sector thereby increasing employment opportunities. Of the amount $1,084,886 is from the old Cultural and Environmental Resource Management (CERM) Project.

Emerging Markets Development Advisers Program (EMDAP)
Funding for MBA students to gain practical experience through providing advisory services to institutions involved in USAID-funded activities.

National Competitiveness Team Unit
Funding to Ministry of Planning's Competitiveness Team Unit (a research unit involved in assessing, evaluating and improving the competitiveness of various industries and economic clusters in Jordan) to help it increase competitiveness of Jordan's key industries and services through sectoral and cluster analysis and research.

Small Project Assistance (SPA)
Implement small projects for community development assistance throughout Jordan that include Peace Corps volunteers.

Development Credit Authority Program
This program provides loan guarantees to local banks to stimulate them to provide access to credit to underserved or riskier business endeavors. An agreement has been negotiated with the National Bank of Jordan and a second one with another bank is in process to expand access to credit to SMEs. Approximately $10 million of new financing will be made available.
