Summary
This Program will provide technical assistance to enhance the skills of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and Aqaba citizens to increase their abilities to access benefits from existing and planned major investments in Aqaba. This assistance includes increasing citizen participation in decision making and improving access to an enhanced social infrastructure. Further, certain assistance will be provided to improve the capacity of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) and the Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC) to deliver services to their constituencies. The three Program components are designed to strengthen government institutions, strengthen the private business sector, and enhance local community development. Four cross-cutting support elements of training, gender integration, communication and outreach, and procurement initiatives will be key aspects of this program. In addition, a small grants program will provide $2.5 million to support various activities within the components.
